A promo code is a code of letters and numbers issued by a store or service. Enter it when you order or pay, and you get a discount, cashback, free delivery or a gift. Below is where such codes come from, where to type them and why a code is sometimes refused.

Where to get a promo code

  • The brand's own channels: the offers section of its app, its Telegram channel, its Instagram page, text messages and email. This is where a code originates.
  • Your account in the app: some apps keep the codes issued to you in a list of their own.
  • A referral code: someone who already uses the service shares their code, you enter it when you sign up, and the bonus often goes to both of you.
  • Games and contests: brands give away promo codes in their channels, but only the winners receive them.
  • Promo code catalogues: sites such as Promokoduz gather the live codes of many brands in one place, with the source, the terms and the end date.

How to enter a promo code

  1. Copy the code: when it is typed by hand, a typo or a stray space is a common reason for a refusal.
  2. Add the product to your basket or pick the service.
  3. On the payment page, find the “Promo code” or “Coupon” field and paste the code. A referral code usually goes in at sign-up.
  4. Press “Apply”, check that the discount shows in the total, and only then pay.

When a code is refused

  • The code may have expired.
  • The code may be for new customers or a first order only.
  • The order is below the minimum amount, or the code belongs to another store or category.
  • Many services take only one code per order.
